When I first started Purple Gorilla, it was going to be an independent T-Shirt line but snowballed into more of a design studio. You never know how things are going to end up. Planning out a few designs, I'll post them on the Facebook page when they're done, maybe I'll print the design with the most 'likes'?

The release date for the new Ashtray Electric & Gazelle colab, "Take A Seat", music video we did has been pushed back till December for now. After a discussion with the bands we all agreed that we need to take this video a step further; make it bolder, cooler and more badass. The animation piece will be mailed to South Africa this week. The bands will do a shoot together and add that into the video. I'm not going to give you all the details now but it's going to look amazing, all I can say. Once I have a definite release date, I'll release the making of footage so you can enjoy this much-anticipated music video to its full extent!

Rock For Hunger Festival 5 - Nov 6th, 2010

"When you think about Rock For Hunger, you've got to start with the cause because Rock For Hunger is all about helping out the homeless people in Central Florida. So first of all, you're purchasing a ticket to go see artists, but you're also helping out people in need at the same time."

As some of you know by now we did all the branding for the Rock For Hunger Festival 5 and this past Saturday it all came together. The festival was held at the Citrus Bowl field in Downtown Orlando. Bands performed all day while Zach Deputy, Keller Williams & Lee Boys ended of the night.

The PG crew had a blast, we hula hooped, played volleyball and just had a good time. We also did our first Radio and TV Interview. Once I get a hold of those I'll post them.

Rendering & Editing

For the past week we've been rendering out the animations for the music video. We had up to 7 computers rendering non-stop (our fake render farm), and of course while rendering the final scene the computer crashed! The files are backed-up so we're in good shape. Editing will start today so we can bring you this amazing video next week... if the bands decide to release it then.

Be on the look out next week when we release behind the scenes footage, making of the new Ashtray Electric/Gazelle Music Video.

Rock For Hunger Billboards

As some of you know by now, PG designed all material for the Rock For Hunger Music Festival 5. That includes logo, posters, fliers, t-shirts, billboards etc. This amazing music fest takes place November 6th, 2010 at the Citrus Bowl in Orlando, Florida. I'll be sure to update you more on the festival, the PG crew will be there rockin VIP while trying to look cool.

Ashtray Electric & Gazelle Music Video

While visiting South Africa I hung out with my old friend Andre Pienaar. Andre is the lead singer of Ashtray Electric, very successful indie rock band based from Cape Town, South Africa. Their debut album, Bonjour, came out last year and was an immediate hit. They're recording a follow up right now called Measured In Falls and will hit the shelves early 2011.

I got to hang out with them at practice, attended a show and had a great time! Ashtray did a collaboration song with another big act called Gazelle and will be released soon. They wanted to do a music video for the song but the 2 bands couldn't come together for the shoot since Gazelle is in New York recording a new album. Andre and I talked about possibly doing a full animation music video for the song and a few weeks later I pitched them a few storyboards and just like that Purple Gorilla got the gig. We've been working on it for the past month and we're in our final week of animating. As soon as we have a confirmed release date I'll post behind the scenes footage, making of the video and other fun stuff.

Goodbye South Africa, hello US of A

I recently returned to Orlando from my 3 month adventure back home in South Africa. I had such a good time seeing family & friends again and salute to all the new friends I made. With scenery like this, how could you not have a good time!
