MK MVP - Ashtray Electric - Bittersweet Manipulator

 I told you I would and here it is; Ashtray Electric new music video as part of the MK MVP Project.

"The girl in the video lives in box in a papier mâché Nightmare Before Christmas-like land. Ashtray Electric, who are watching her in life behind a screen, take turns scaring and playing tricks on her. This includes frightening her with monsters and blowing cigarette smoke at her which turns into fog in her world. You can’t help feeling sorry for her. A rather cruel video."

One of the coolest concepts I've seen for a music video in a long time. Very original and you have to give mad props to the guys from Motion City Films, job well done.

Rolling Stone Magazine South Africa

Tomorrow (November 23rd) the legendary Rolling Stone Magazine will hit the shelves... South African style. It makes sense to bring a music magazine of this scale to the South African scene since the SA music industry has grown rapidly over the past 10 years.

Rolling Stone South Africa Editor-In-Chief Miles Keylock says: “It’s about respect – for our subject matter and our readers. We focus on real, in-depth pop culture and current affairs stories, not tabloid headlines and hype. You’re not going to get this kind of editorial content in any other magazine in South Africa. We will be featuring kwaito alongside rock, jazz alongside pop, and hip-hop alongside house. MK MVP Ashtray Electric / Behind The Scenes

Last year I had the privilege to work on a MK MVP project with The African Attachment and great South African bands Thieve & Die Heuwels Fantasties. It was amazing to see a major project like that grow from scratch to a hit video on a major network.

This year my good friends from Ashtray Electric are involved in the MVP project with Motion City Films. The behind the scenes bit was just released and from what I've seen this is going to be one for the books! I'll be sure to post the complete video once it's released.

South Africa... I'm Still Here.

As some of you know by now, I've been in South Africa for the past month now and just as I was about to go back to Orlando, an opportunity came up so I had to stay 2 more weeks in beautiful sunny South Africa. Yes this is where I was born and raised and my parents still live here, but besides that, nothing beats going home and spending some time with your mates.

I remember back in the day when Kelly Slater had 7 world titles and the whole world was ecstatic! But now this Cocoa Beach native is 11 X WORLD CHAMPION. Absolutely amazing and mad props to a true pioneer.

Wine Is The New... Paint?

Last week I found myself at Tokara Wine Estate in Stellenbosh, South Africa and I was stunned to see this painting. "African Queen" painted with Tokara Red Wine. How rad is that? Who needs paint, open up a bottle of wine. There was a wide variety of paintings from different artists all over the South African region.

As some of you know by now, Jessica Jane Clement is my school boy crush (every dude has one) and recently she posed for NUTS magazine. On top of that; I heard she was in Cape Town at the same time I was but unfortunately her hairdresser boyfriend decided it would be a good time to propose. So my dream died all in one tweet. But we can still enjoy these very conservative photos...
